Santa’s Workshop is a special part of the holiday season at Nova Vita. It’s when an area of Nova Vita undergoes a complete transformation that brings the magic of Christmas to the shelter.
The community generously donates items that are gift wrapped and organized in Santa’s Workshop. Throughout the month, women and children are able to select gifts to give for Christmas. When possible, gifts are matched with women and children’s “wish list”. This list is provided to the local community to help make the giving process more intentional. Kim, Nova Vita’s Christmas Elf (and social worker) then matches donations with the items requested on a wish list (see below for this year’s wish list).“The generosity in this community is genuine, true, and comes from the heart,” said Kim, Nova Vita’s Christmas Elf.
Not only do Mom’s visit the workshop and pick out gifts for their children, but children are invited to pick out gifts for their mom. The children then receive help from the amazing children’s program staff who provide supplies for gift wrapping.
Christmas Wish List:
Bath/body sets for teens and adults (lotions, shampoo, body mist, deodorant etc.)
Cosmetics/fashion jewelry sets
Gift cards for movies, iTunes, grocery
Stocking stuffers for babies, young children and teens
Twin/double sheet sets
Did you know? Last year, the community generously helped Santa’s Workshop support:
- 143 children
- 68 women
- 69 families
