November is Women Abuse Prevention Month. Since 1983, Nova Vita has been present in our community to offer help, hope, and healing to women, children, and men. National statistics demonstrate that on average, every six days a woman is killed by her intimate partner and half of all Canadian women have experienced at least one incident of physical or sexual violence since the age of 16. Last year, Nova Vita provided safe shelter to 259 women and children.
To bring awareness to the issue of women abuse in our community and province, Nova Vita is participating in the 3rd Annual Wrapped in Courage campaign. By purchasing a purple scarf, you are demonstrating your support for women as they find the courage to begin a violence free life. The purple scarf symbolizes this courage, and your support demonstrates to women and children that they are not alone.
Scarves can be purchased at Nova Vita, Closet Couture Boutique (222B King George Road), or at Sweet Bakery (403 Fairview Drive).
Thank you to our wonderful community for your ongoing support and for standing against domestic violence.
