What is Challenge to Change?
Our Challenge to Change Programs are for individuals who have been abusive towards their partners, or for individuals who are at risk of using abusive behaviours, or for individuals who are looking for self-improvement in their relationships. They include the Partner Assault Response Program, S.C.R.I.B.E., and individual counselling. The goal is to increase the knowledge, skills, resources, and self-awareness of participants in order to develop and maintain healthier relationships. PAR-Partner Assault Response
Our Partner Assault Response (PAR) Program is a 12 week psycho-educational and counselling program for individuals who have used violence in their relationship and/or have been charged through the criminal court system with a domestic violence related crime. The program encourages individuals to take responsibility for abusive thoughts and actions and to develop an understanding of the complexity of domestic violence which extends beyond physical abuse including verbal, emotional, financial, sexual, and psychological.
The program also enhances victim safety through confidential outreach to current and past partners to offer support, information, safety planning and referrals through our Partner Contact Program.
Referrals for this program are received through the criminal court system, probation and parole, and/or voluntary self-referral. There is a fee for this program.
