Transitional and Housing Support Program (Outreach)
Our Transitional Support Workers are outreach workers that work with women* who have experienced violence or abuse in their relationship and are in transition. They can work with you to develop a plan to leave an abusive relationship, to transition into a shelter, to transition from a shelter to the community, or to transition from an abusive living environment to an independent, violence-free life. You do not need to live in a shelter to access the Transitional and Housing Support Program and you can access this service while living in the community. Transitional Support Workers can help you with emotional support, safety planning, applying for housing, referrals to other community resources, accompaniment (i.e. to court, lawyer’s office, other appointments), advocacy with social service agencies, home support and follow-up.

2nd Stage Transitional Housing
Maria House offers 8 residential units for longer term residential stays for women and children in a setting that combines independent living with counselling and ongoing support. Two of these units are wheelchair accessible.
This program is only available through our emergency residential program.
Family Court Support
Our Family Court Support Program provides information, support, resources, and accompaniment to family court and lawyer’s appointments. If you have experienced abuse in your relationship and have questions about your rights, how to access Legal Aid, how to find a lawyer, or how to navigate the family court process, our Family Court Support Worker can assist you.
