Community Counselling
Our Community Counselling programs are for individuals who have experienced violence or abuse in their relationship and are interested in taking a step in their own healing journey.
(For individuals who have been abusive towards their partner or are at risk of using abusive behaviour in their relationship, please see our Challenge to Change Programs.)
Intake Coordinator
For individuals who have experienced violence or abuse in their relationship and not living at Nova Vita, speaking with our Intake Coordinator is the first step. Our Intake Coordinator will set up an initial interview with you, explain our programs, answer any questions, help you to develop a safety plan if necessary, and connect you with the service or program that best meets your needs, and the needs of your children.

Group Counselling
Group Counselling is available for women* aged 16 years and over who are in, or have been in an abusive relationship. We have a variety of groups including:
- Abuse Recovery Group
- Women of Wisdom (WOW, for women 55+)
- Anxiety Management
- Mindfulness-Based Therapy
- Healthy Relationships
- and others

Caring Families
Our Caring Families Program helps parents/caregivers create respectful adult relationships and a positive co-parenting approach with their children. We offer a group for mothers, a group for fathers, and age-appropriate groups for children/adolescents. For more detailed information on the Caring Families program visit www.caringfamilies.ca.

Differential Response
The Differential Response Program is a partnership with Child and Family Services of Grand Erie that provides wrap-around domestic violence prevention services for all members of a family. Nova Vita DV Workers provide brief intervention, support, referrals, and safety planning to the victim/survivor of domestic violence and separately to the perpetrator of domestic violence. This coordinated intervention ensures wrap-around service to all members of a family to reduce the risk the violence.
This program receives referrals only through Child and Family Services of Grand Erie.
