Ontario is now in Step Three of the Roadmap to Reopen. We know that home is not always the safest place to be and our team at Nova Vita continues to work diligently to provide safe emergency shelter and support services with COVID-19 prevention protocols in place. The following is a list of how programs and services may be impacted at Nova Vita:
The following essential services continue to operate in full capacity:
24 Hour Crisis and Support Line: Dial 519-752-HELP to receive immediate support and safety planning. This service is available to all members of our community. For those note able to safely place a call, you can text us at 519-754-5332 (text only line).
Emergency Shelter: is open to provide safe shelter and essential support to women and children impacted by domestic violence and homelessness. Our safe intake room is available 24/7 for emergency walk-in support.
The following programs and services will be impacted until further notice:
Community Outreach, Intake, and Other Support Services, including Women’s Community Counselling, Men’s Community Counseling/Challenge to Change, and Transitional Support Services: Emergency support is always available by calling 519-752-HELP, in-person meetings are available, and our team will continue to offer phone and video counseling.
Donations: We are now able to accept donations by appointment only. Please schedule ahead with a member of our Community Development Team:
- Physical Donations – Appointments can now be made to donate new and like-new apparel for women and children. At this time we can only accept in-season/summer items and those items listed on our Urgent Needs List. To schedule a donation drop-off and for more information please visit HERE. To make arrangements to purchase items of urgent need, please contact Cheyanne at email@example.com.
- Donate Online – monetary donations ensure the required equipment, necessities, and services are supplied to residents and clients in need of additional support at this time. You can specify how you would like the money to be used when you donate online HERE or by contacting Anne at firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Donate Grocery Store Gift Cards – cards valued at $25 or $50 can be distributed by our counsellors to give to their outreach clients to help ease the financial burden during these volatile times. Contact Anne at email@example.com to make arrangements.
Closet Couture Boutique: Our retail boutique, located at 415 Fairview Drive in Brantford, is currently open: Tuesday to Friday 10 am to 5 pm and Saturday 10 am to 2 pm. You can also shop to make a difference online, at www.closet-couture.ca.
Volunteer Program & Student Placements: Nova Vita is welcoming a return to volunteers onsite at both Nova Vita and CC Boutique. Student placements are limited until the 2021 Fall semester.
We will continue to work closely with the BCHU and follow the safety guidelines and framework provided by Ontario Ministry of Health.
